terrible matresses

Late arrival went well (2:30am). The morning sunlight revealed a unit with paint peeling from the walls in many places and varnish worn off the bathroom cabinet(door wouldn't close). Doors were scraped and with peeling varnish,corroded fixtures, a low e bulb fitted into the vanity light panel, etc. We found the beds uncomfortable.
The tub drain was plugged, but we called and they fixed it.
Ants everywhere, especially in the kitchen where we found hundreds of them in the dishwasher! Fortunately, the owner or someone previous left a can of raid...
Thankfully, we were out of the place most of the day, but we couldn't relax when we were there. This unit is in serious need of renovation and repair.
We felt ripped off, and certainly can't recommend this unit or The Estates at Turtle Bay, or VRBO to anyone. Which is unfortunate, because it is a beautiful location.
p.s. I left a favorite aloha shirt in the closet, and was so grateful that staff turned it into the office, so I could pick it up. Yay!

The location is great, not far from the hotel at Turtle Bay where we had wonderful sunsets and not far from the beach. We had also a nice beach walk and discovered a monk seal that had given birth (the baby seal was about 3 weeks old).
We had calm and respectful neighbors, the pool was nearby (not even a 2 min walk)
We enjoyed the plants, the green, the landscaping. If you want to discover the surroundings and some other beaches, a car is needed.

The only thing I would request is an A/C unit be added to the living room/common areas. There is one unit in the bedroom but it's far too small to be able to cool the rest of the condo down. But overall this condo was great to stay in.
Regardless, great condo, great location and very clean place! I would highly recommend this rental.
-big clumps of hair in shower drain
-shower floor had black marks (which we thought were permanent stains) when we checked in...these came off when we cleaned the shower before checking out, making it obvious that housekeeping had not cleaned the shower at all
-questionable cleanliness of beds
-clothing from last visitor still in dresser (a good sign it was not thoroughly cleaned)
-unit had absolutely no beach stuff (chairs and stuff), as many other condos in Hawaii do
-very aged, needs a lot of updating
-very overpriced for what you get, especially when compared to other similar offerings
-rental company charged us for towels that they say we bleached out (pretty impressive considering we had no bleach), but then they changed their story and said they were "badly stained from being taken to the beach", which I'm not even sure how that is possible, given that we bought our own beach towels
