Pu'o Poa is the perfect location, walking distance to two uncrowded beaches and a short drive from the Princeville Shopping Center and Hanalei Beach. The Makai Golf Course is a very short drive away as well.
One of Puu Poa's best amenities is the pool on the edge of the cliff - you'll find it hard to pull yourself away from this truly epic spot. There are also pickleball courts on site!
Puu Poa community is directly adjacent to Hideaways beach trail which features amazing snorkeling in the summer months. Just across from Hideaways access is the public staircase to the beach at the new 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay. This newly renovated 5-star hotel boasts three world-class restaurants, a coffee bar, shopping, a spa, and many fantastic views.
Please note, that this home does not have central air conditioning but relies on ceiling fans and ocean breezes to cool the home.

The condo is gorgeous, and I'd love to stay there again on my next trip to Kauai.

Hideaway beach had great snorkeling, although the path down could use some work. All in all was a wonderful stay.
This is our take:
The location is supurb - great views - relatively quiet - handy to grocery shopping and moderate priced, (by Hawaii standards), but excellent quality restaurants. We tried CJ's in Princeville, and the Hanalei Dolphin in nearby Hanalei. Both had good food and good service. We walked down to the St Regis Hotel - beautiful place but very expensive - we had already had several $90 - $100 per person dinners elsewhere so didn't feel the need to sample another.
The unit was a bit of a disappointment. On entering, it gave a great first impression. The setting and ocean views from the entire development are supurb. Unit 305 looked great when we first entered it. There was a great assortment of kitchen and cooking accessories, a full blown TV - DVD - Sound System with available DVD's etc. - top of the line. The lay out of the unit was also excellent.
However, the unit badly needs a bit of maintenance. For example, the door to bedroom #2 was partially off its hinges. The umbrella out on the Lanai was just a frame. The unit, especially bedroom #2 and bath #2 had an extremely musty odor, (caused by the humidity no doubt). When I tried to get some air circulation to reduce the odor, I was unable to open the window in bedroom #2 to do so. We had not experienced this musty condition any where else. Surely it can, and should be corrected. This was very unpleasant and drastically reduced our overall impression including some uncertainty about the cleanliness.
The condo itself was just the right size for the three of us and the layout was very open. There were a couple of small things I feel that could be addressed: 1) purchase new linens for the master bedroom 2) purchase new towels as they looked a little worn 3) have the washer looked at as it ruined a couple of white shirts of ours 4) think about putting new lights in the kitchen it is a bit dark. The track lighting does not give quite enough light. 5)Update the sporting equipment if it will be available for guest...snorkle kit, tennis rackets..etc.
Puu Poa 305 was a wonderful home away from home and we will definitely plan another trip to North Shore Princevill, Kauai.
was very well equipped. There are a number of great beach amenities including beach chairs, snorkel gear, and boogie boards. Do yourself a favour and spend a few nights here, you won't be disappointed.
The bed linens were stained, housekeeping replaced the linens the next day. The dryer stained and put holes in our clothes. We were unable to use the washer and dryer all week. The screens were still off their tracks even though we were told they had been repaired.
The unit was very nice but lacking in maintenance. What bothered us the most is that Remax knew of these problems before we rented.
We were a little bit bummed out that we didn't have internet the whole week and weren't able to get help from the property managers on that. I think it was a fluke problem, because there was a password on the internet that they didn't know about. But we did wish it had been fixed early in the week when we informed them about it.
place in our hearts as Lumahai Beach is where I proposed to my wife on our very first visit there back in 1984. Three children and 11 trips later (our 9th staying in a Princeville property), the Holleran's Puo Poa vacation condo has been the best accommodations
to date, by far. The property truly exceeded our expectations...very well kept, beautifully decorated (especially the artwork!), equipped with high end furnishings throughout, and very open and airy with magnificent views. Whether on a trip to the other side
of the island, or just a nearby visit to Hanalei Beach, it was always reassuring to know in the back or our minds that at the end of the day we would be returning to our truly luxurious Puo Poa accommodations. Kauai was our first stop, followed by oceanfront
property stays on Maui then Oahu...but our three kids (14, 18 & 21) all kept mentioning the whole time how much more they had enjoyed our stay on Kauai, which I'm certain was due in very large part to our wonderful accommodations. We have found our ideal Kauai
vacation rental, and look forward to staying here again on all subsequent visits. Thanks to the owners for sharing their slice of heaven with us!
